New York - Saatchi & Saatchi New York hosted a group of students last week from The Young Women's Leadership Schools. The students spent the day paired with an agency employee, learning the ropes and getting a feel for a day in the life of an advertising professional. Students also attended a thought provoking panel discussion with some of the agency's executives, including Sheldon Levy (VP, Deputy Director of Broadcast Production), Kedma Brown (VP, Director of Integrated Production & Digital) and Hosanna Marshall (Art Buyer/Creative Producer).
The Young Women's Leadership Schools are a group of schools around the country that offer a single-sex educational choice for predominantly low-income students who will be the first in their families to attend college. Saatchi & Saatchi has a long standing history with the organization, which last year awarded Saatchi & Saatchi World Wide CEO Kevin Roberts their "Man We Love" award. This is the second year the New York agency has hosted an YWLS job shadow event.
"Our involvement with YWLN is one of the things I'm most proud of," said Gina Christie, SVP Management Director at Saatchi & Saatchi. "The idea is to offer inspiration to the girls and show them career paths. A lot of people of color are not exposed to the world of advertising."
