Shanghai - The annual Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase (NDS), is always one of the highlights of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. This year - the 21st year of the NDS - the reel will be screened in China for the first time, at the ROI Festival in Shanghai. The 4th ROI runs from 9-11 November at the Shanghai Centre, with the New Directors' Showcase on Friday 11 November. Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai ECD Fan Ng, who made the selection of Directors for the Chinese NDS reel, will engage in a panel discussion with Chinese Director Mr. Li Wei Ran.
The NDS regularly highlights the best new directing talent from around the world, and past showcases have featured directors who have gone on to achieve international recognition including; Tarsem, Michel Gondry, Mark Romanek, Spike Jonze, Ivan Zacharias, Kinka Usher, Danny Kleinman and Jonathan Glazer.
To find the featured directors, Saatchi & Saatchi invites submissions from directors across the globe and uses its Network of some 140 offices worldwide, as well as relationships with key on-line sources. From an initial line up of several hundred directors, The Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide Creative Board chose the final selection, and only 17 directors made the cut this year in Cannes.
Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai ECD Fan Ng has selected 11 Directors from the original 2011 reel for the inaugural Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase in China. The Directors are listed below, with the title of the submitted work:
Andreas Roth - ‘Dirt Devil'

Michal Socha - ‘Chick'
Neil Dowling and Nils Clauss - ‘Senior Living'

Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai ECD Fan Ng explained about his selection: "I think the 17 Directors chosen for this year's Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase shown in Cannes are all fantastic. I selected the 11 Directors for the reel that will be shown at the ROI Festival in Shanghai, because I think a Chinese audience will understand their style and narrative. I hope this reel will inspire the creative community in China, and encourage more Chinese and Asian directing talent to submit their work for the next New Directors' Showcase."
