Beijing - Saatchi & Saatchi Beijing's Eason Yang and Judy Chang have been named as China's representatives at the Cannes Young Lions competition.
This was the first year that China has held an open competition for Young Lions regional pre-selections and Eason and Judy beat submissions from agencies all over China - JWT, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy One and BBDO - and will present their work live in front of a panel of five judges at the festival in Cannes.
The five Judges were JWT Beijing's ECD, Polly Zhu; im2.0's managing director Freddie Yuan; Panorama Stock's Director of Operations Daphne Fu; Adquan's Chief Editor Miao Hao.
Each team presented their ideas in English; and were judged in innovation and completeness (40%); creativity and execution (40%); and group chemistry and their ability to answer judges' question (20%).
The winning team's presentation, chemistry, creative execution, idea's extensiveness and innovation have earned them the highest marks in all areas of the competition. "I'm sold. We want this idea," said Daphne Fu.
Yang and Chang will accompany Adquan to Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June. There, they will be up against the best young creatives from around the world in a 24-hour competition that entails designing a print ad for a non-profit organisation. Event sponsor, Panorama, will provide all costs necessary to enter the competition, along with a weeklong pass that allows the two winners to attend all Cannes Lions seminars.
