New York, NY - Saatchi & Saatchi New York CEO Durk Barnhill appeared on Bloomberg Television's Bloomberg West segment today. Interviewed by John Erlichman, Barnhill discussed the nature of big-budget media buys for major televised events like the Oscars as well as social media campaigns designed to amplify them.
During the live TV segment, Barnhill talked about how smart marketers are leveraging the power of social media and examining ROI from a "Return on Involvement" perspective. Brand-created content on social networks like Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter were at an all-time high during this year's Super Bowl, and he expected that to continue during the 2013 Oscars.
Addressing the relationship between television and Twitter, Barnhill noted: "Twitter's another arrow in the quiver. TV's not going to die. Social media is additive - it's another tool we can use to try to reach consumers in more relevant ways."
