Executive Appointments at Saatchi & Saatchi Canada

Toronto - Saatchi & Saatchi Canada has announced the appointment of Brett Channer to Chairman & Executive Creative Director, as well as naming Stuart Payne as the company's new President and CEO. Channer will manage the creative direction and strategy of Saatchi & Saatchi Canada, while Payne will oversee all agency business. These appointments complete a period of reorganization at Saatchi & Saatchi Canada that included a new creative department, the re-alignment of divisions and a new office location.

"With new work being asked of us by several clients including Sony Ericsson and Wendy's, we were at a place where I found it necessary to bring on a business partner. I have been aggressively looking for someone for the past six months," said Brett Channer. "Stuart Payne brings a wealth of relevant business experience that will allow me to oversee the creative direction of Saatchi & Saatchi Canada. It's an exciting time for our company."

Payne, who will officially join Saatchi & Saatchi Canada on September 2, 2007, spent 18 years at Toyota Canada, most recently as Director of the Lexus division and a member of the executive committee. A transformational leader, he is responsible for taking the Lexus brand to new heights in Canada.

Last month the agency also recruited Daniel Charron from Republik Montreal to the new position of Vice-President, Quebec Creative Director. Charron is now based out of Saatchi & Saatchi Canada's office in Toronto, and is overseeing the realignment of Saatchi & Saatchi's Quebec business.

With Saatchi & Saatchi Canada's fully integrated approach, all creative will be generated centrally from Toronto, with Charron overseeing and tailoring creative and messaging for the Quebec market. As he commented, "By working closely together in one central location, the flow of ideas will be smoother and everyone will benefit. Establishing a strong national service model at Saatchi & Saatchi means that both the Canadian English and French markets will benefit from a bespoke experience."

In other hirings, Helen Pak has joined from Ogilvy & Mather as Senior Vice President, Head of Art, responsible for the aesthetic overview of all applications created within and leaving the agency.  Wells Davis (formerly of Taxi) becomes Executive Vice President, Director Consumer Planning and will, according to Channer, "offer great consumer insights which will lead to breakthrough work."
