Goafest Success for Saatchi & Saatchi India

Mumbai - Saatchi & Saatchi India is celebrating a very successful Goafest 2008 festival.  Its nine awards, which included three Golds, took them to fourth in the overall ranking table behind Ogilvy, Leo Burnett and JWT - a clear step forward for the agency towards consolidating its reputation on the creative front.

This year's Goafest - the third held - was particularly significant, since it marked the coming together of two well known creative award platforms - the Abby's, run by the Mumbai Ad Club, and Goafest, run by the AAAI.  Attended by more than 3000 advertising, media & marketing professionals, the 3 day festival had an ample sprinkling of everything - an idyllic setting in the sprawling beachfront of South Goa, some serious fun punctuated by some thought provoking sessions from stalwarts like Scott Goodson, Steven Gatfield, Donald Gunn, Craig Davis and our own V Shantakumar, as well as an inspiring array of creative work.

Three campaigns for its Cox & Kings travel agency client gave Saatchi & Saatchi India a clean sweep of the awards in the Travel and Hospitality Category. The stunningly refreshing 'Monument' campaign, created by the Mumbai office to mark 250 years of the company, picked up 3 Gold and 3 Silver Abbys to add to its Silver from at the Asia Pacific AdFest, the 'Easy By Nature. Goa' campaign won 4 Bronzes, while the 'Old Ads' campaign took 2 Bronzes.

Additionally, the 'Fragrance' campaign for Procter & Gamble's Ariel also collected a Bronze Abby.

Commenting on the success, Saatchi & Saatchi India Chairman, V. Shantakumar said, "This year we won some very important awards and came in 4th in the overall agency rankings. And I believe this is only the beginning of our meeting our stated objective of being in the top 2 in the most awarded agency listings by 2009."

Delighted by his agency's performance, Kamal Basu, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi India, said, "This is a proud moment for all of us and hopefully the beginning of a new journey on the awards front."
