Saatchi & Saatchi Supports WWF/Traffic Initiative

Hanoi - WWF Greater Mekong and TRAFFIC have launched the "A Matter of Attitude" print design contest in Vietnam. Interested participants are asked to develop an innovative and exciting print public service announcement (PSA) that tackles the idea of stopping the illegal consumption of wildlife in Vietnam.

Six finalists will have a chance to work with Saatchi & Saatchi Vietnam to finalize the designs before being showcased for one year in various publications.

The submissions can be in the form of drawings, photographs, or graphic design, and should clearly and creatively send a message about protecting Vietnam's remaining wildlife. The PSAs can feature wildlife trade in general, or species-specific topics, preferably relating to one or all of the following: tigers, bears, king cobras, pangolins, marine turtles, and/or rhinos, all of which are protected under international and Vietnamese law.

The competition is open to all who live in Vietnam, Vietnamese citizens and expatriates alike. With the inclusion of everyone who resides here, WWF hopes to create a bigger scope to the competition, and to raise more awareness about the alarming illegal and unsustainable wildlife trade and consumption in Vietnam.

In addition to generating interest in the general public, the contest also lends accessibility to the furthering of relationships between the private sector and the conservation community. The generous support of Saatchi & Saatchi Vietnam giving their expertise, Canon donating digital cameras as prizes to the finalists, as well as Le Media and Info TV agreeing to provide free ad space and air time, boost the contest itself but also give a clear message that some businesses really do care about protecting our environment.

The National Youth Union, a partner of the project since Phase I, will support the contest by promoting it to over one hundred colleges and universities nation-wide, making the voices of the country's young generation well-heard through this contest.

The "A Matter of Attitude" print design contest will take submissions up to, but no later than, 30 June 2008. Submissions may either be sent electronically or physically, and will be judged by a panel of judges. Results will be made known in July 2008.

The "A Matter of Attitude" design contest is part of the Phase II "A matter of attitude - Reducing consumption of wildlife products in Hanoi, Vietnam" project, a joint project between WWF Greater Mekong and TRAFFIC, funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA). The contest was made possible through the partnership of Saatchi & Saatchi Vietnam, Canon, Info TV and Le Media.
