Shanghai - China has gone through major transformation of the creative & media industry in the last 30 years. Advertising billing has jumped to Euro 15,730 million in 2006, whilst multiple media opportunities leapfrogged after China's open-door policy came into practice.
To recognize the most outstanding industry professionals who have been instrumental in China's advertising evolution, the China Advertising Association held an inaugural Award ceremony on 18th April, celebrating their contribution to three decades of Chinese Advertising. The event was broadcast live on Shanghai television and national internet as well.
During the ceremony Ms. Pully Chau, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai & Guangzhou, received an "Outstanding Contribution over Three Decades of Chinese Advertising" Individual Award.
Among the 28 individuals awarded were industry professionals: award-winning creative gurus, most successful media operators, entrepreneurs from the internet world, reformers, outstanding publishers, and well-known professors from Communication School.
The competition had been intense. An expert board nominated 108 advertising professionals after consulting Advertising Associations across all the provinces, verified their data and accomplishments and distilled the list down to 62 finalists. Their names and profiles were then posted on sohu.com for public voting, before arriving at the final award list of 28 people.
In accepting her Award on stage, Ms. Chau said, "I felt extremely honored to receive such recognition, but claiming it as a personal award is not fair. I would like to delegate such glory to my Saatchi & Saatchi China teams who have been my spiritual support. My gratitude goes to Kevin Roberts who gave us 'Lovemarks', a truly inspiring & visionary tool; and to Maurice Levy of Publicis Groupe who has empowered us to run China the way it should be, to maximize the greatest potentials of brands and our talents. Last but not the least, thanks to Procter & Gamble who embrace us to build their trustmarks into Lovemarks, and let us build brands and win awards at the same time."
