Guangzhou - Saatchi & Saatchi Guangzhou has created
an adorable and amusing way for WeChat users to send formal well wishes to
family members and friend during Chinese New Year.
People in China often seem to have no idea
what to say when sending wishes to family members and friends during Chinese
New Year, and the Saatchi & Saatchi team wanted to help them out by playing
on the similarities in pronunciation between the words “what” and “bleat” in
Cantonese.
On Saatchi & Saatchi’s WeChat Account
“Saatchieye”, users can use the “Bleat in the Year of the Goat” web app to send
a recorded message to their friends and families together with illustrated
scenes from Russian Illustrator Fil Dunsky. Users can post their own photo to
be set in the Goat’s head, in one of the four illustrated scenes representing
Rock and Roll, Childlike Simplicity, Otaku and the Spring Festival.
The twist is that recipients will only hear a
series of “bleats” in the message at first, and needs to virtually “slap the
senders face” to hear the message (in human language!).
The development team made sure to include some
surprises for users such as the mating cats in the Childlike Simplicity scene,
and optimization with image compression, page loading, audio processing
techniques and the use of the New WeChat recording API has been done to ensure
quality and operability. WeChat users
can easily scan the popular QR code or open the web link to play it and share
the link with their friends.
